AP Statistics

In free respons sections.. are we allowed calculate confidence intervals, sample means, standard deviation.. etc. etc. with the calculator??
Or should it all be done by using brain? and if it's allowed, how should we put it down the calculations of the calculator on the answer sheet?

You can use calculators for all of it. If you do something like a CI on the calculator, just be sure to write down everything that the calculator gives you after you calculate the CI. (including things like sample size, standard deviation, etc.)

but still, if you have calculated a confidence interval with the calculator.. don't you still need to write the whole procedure down if you have done it manually.

AP does not allow you to use calculator talk.. so without writing the whole procedure.. how can you explain to them how you came up with the answer?

bump..............

I think you would just write down the formula and plug the numbers in, then use a calculator so that you don't have to do the arithmetic.

yeah .. write down the formula you used so they know that you know what you're doing. And then plug in the info into the formula (without actually evaluating anything) and write it down. Find whatever you need using the calculator.

The AP exam doesn't allow calculator "speak" but if you find something using the calculator, you should say "Using the graphing calculator for Z-test, we find that the p value is so-and-so." that's all ^^
