AP Statistics

What sort of math background should one have prior to taking the class/AP exam? Is it necessary to have taken calculus?

No, lol. Unless it’s calc based stats. . . but if it’s just AP, you’re all good.

AP Stats is very easy, you’ll never come close to touching calculus in it. I took it with only having taken geometry (which didn’t matter) and algebra (I’m not sure I really used that either). Practice punching numbers into your calculator very quickly and you’ll be good.

I don’t think you really need anything except some Algebra 2. But study your graphing calculator user’s manual. :p

Honestly I didn’t understand half of the class and still got a 5. So, it’s not that bad. Just know how to use the calculator haha and you’ll be golden

You really don’t need any math background besides algebra. Just know how to use your calculator (ti-84!). I took Calc & Stat this year. I didn’t learn anything in my Stat class the whole year. We just talked and doodled and BS’ed the tests. hahaha xD
I self-studied like the week before using PR and got a 3. Pretty happy with that since my college is taking it. :D

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Is AP Stat hard?

No, not hard at all. More important than the course content is how well you can use your calculator lol. Memorize what is where in the STAT/DIST menu and remember what to plug in where, you’ll do epic.

My school offers this, and its the only AP math we have (we are an IB school). I’m just wondering if i should take the time to take the class, or self study it. thanks!

^ Take it since it’s not hard at all. Might be a GPA booster for you. ;)
