I really don't like it you guys. Not at all.

Yes it’s boring and easy.

I’m taking it right now. Seems easy enough.

It’s EASY, what? I pretty much ACED AP Calc last year, and I’m getting my ass handed to me in AP Stats.

^ i feel ezzzgactlyyyy the same way

i worked my ass off this summer in a condensed, 5 wk calc II class,
and i go to ap stats and it’s like…uhh…TEACH ME SOMETHING YOU BONEHEAD TEACHER!

Take out the manual to your calculator and enjoy. Any prep book can teach you everything you need to know. It’s not a very deep or nuanced class.

Just make sure you know these basic functions on your calculator. 2ND STAT PLOT to graph scatter plots, whisker plots, bar graphs, etc. STAT->EDIT which will let you edit data in L1, L2, L3… which you need to be able to graph it anyways. STAT->CALC will let you perform the basic calculations, such as finding the standard deviation, mean, median, and mode, linear regression, etc. STAT->TESTS will help you perform statistical tests such as z-tests, t-tests, chi-square tests, goodness-of-fit test, etc. That’s pretty much all I used in Stats and I did pretty well.

I’m taking it and I don’t really like it. Probably not taking the AP test seeing as I don’t have much money lol. I’ll take the AP Chem one though.

Be one with your calculator.

Heck, even on some questions where you’re supposed to know general info I was able to use my calculator to figure out the answer.

Yeah, we had a quiz today, and 100% of it was work that could be done on the calculator, except for the essay which was easy.

Today was my first day of school… and all we did in AP Stats was discuss how Statistics is far superior to Calculus. Teacher seems decent, so it can’t be that bad.

I’m self-studying Stats, and I almost finished the whole syllabus over the summer.

But it was more of a read-through. I don’t think I retained any information.

I have my first stat quiz tomorrow and I don’t even know what I’m supposed to study since it seems like all I’ve learned is bar graphs, dot plots, and like what variables are. What book does everyone here use?

I’m taking it now, and it doesn’t seem that hard yet. I mean all you need is logic, a calculator, and write answers in a convincing manner that leaves no room for disputing.

Harambee? What county of NC are you in lol. I’m asking because we had a quiz today too heh.

We’re 2 days into AP Stats; and I’m kind of scared. I was lost during our activity in class today and now I feel like I’m doing the homework wrong. It’s those problems that are like “sketch a distribution that is skewed right, with the middle 50% is its values between 100 and 1000 and with half the values above 200 and half below.” It’s probably easy, but my mind doesnt sync with it.

**** AP Stats

@ raiderade: we’re using “Advanced Placement Statistics In Action: Understanding a World of Data” from Key Curriculum Press.

I haven’t started yet, but I’ve looked over the course. I’m also taking AP Economics (macro + micro) and honestly the first few chapters are basically the same.

We use “The Practice of Statistics”.

the whole skewed thing may seem counter intuitive sometimes, but once you get the hang of it it’s easy. And it’s a fairly large portion of the AP test.

@raiderade - we’re using “The Practice of Statistics” second edition.
