I cannot grasp the concept of z-scores. I just can’t.

I got a zero on our last quiz because the whole quiz was like “if there’s a standard normal distribution with a mean of 10,000 and a standard deviation of 1000, what value would be at the 20th percentile?” and I had no idea how to do it.

How much will not understanding z-scores kill me?

And oh yeah, I have a C- right now.

z-scores + t-scores = AP Statistics exam

And both are just the number of standard deviations away from the mean. What exactly don’t you understand?

^ I don’t understand how to do problems like the one I mentioned in my last post.

It just makes no sense. no no no.

Use your calculator and the percentile given to find the z-score, then multiply the z-score by the standard deviation and subtract that from the mean.

I made myself feel really smart by memorizing the Standard Deviation formula

I don’t really like AP Stats, but at the same time I do. I mean my teacher makes it excessively hard for no reason. My friends opted to not take the class,a nd they have LOADS of freetime. Oh well, whatever. It’s manageable, albeit fairly difficult at my school.

I don’t find the skewed right/left that counter-intuitive. When you think of skew it might connote “drifting” so it’s drifting to the right.

It was my only B last year. FFFFFFFFFFF

But I got an easy 5, so that mitigates it. A bit.

Also, thanks to AP Stat I know my birth weight is in the 99.9 percentile! :D
