I need to take an extra class next year and nothing really interests me. It is down to either AP environmental science (which would probably bore me), AP stats, or Alg 3 (I will be taking precalc over the summer and AP calc next year, so this may be a good refresher/easy A).

Is AP Stats hard?

Will it even be useful as an engineer?

Do most colleges even accept this as a credit?

No, it's one of the easiest APs, especially if you have the math skills to consider Engineering.

The class itself is useless for engineers because they take a harder calculus-based version in college, but it may help you to introduce the topics.

Definitely not for engineers.

I think it's useful for the exact reason you mentioned. I took AP stats in high school and it helped me a few times in college because I already knew some of the concepts.

AP Stats was great for my ISEF projects. :) It was also useful for teaching me how to think about experimental design and analysis. I don't regret taking it in high school.

But the prob/stats class that I had to take as an undergrad was orders of magnitude harder. There was no comparison.

The consensus seems to be that you'll take a harder course in college, but AP stats was helpful regardless. If you have to take an extra course, why not take AP stats if the others don't interest you.
