<p>i know how to do A and B but i can't get C. so i'll just post the C part up. if more info is needed i'll put it up.</p>

<p>Crunchy Corn Chips are packaged in bags labeled net weight 10 ounces. in fact, the weight of a bag of Crunchy Corn Chips follows a normal dist. with mean U ounces and stdev (the symbol) ounces.</p>

<p>c) The manufacturers have also discovered that if they put too many chips in a bag, the bag will burst. In order to balance their concerns over customer satisfaction and possible breakage, management wants to adjust the filling machines so that only 0.5% of bags are underweight and only 2% of bags weight more than 10.5 ounces. Find the values of the mean and stdev that accomplish these goals.</p>

<p>using the z=x-U/stdev equation doesnt seem to work..anyone have any clues? thanks!</p>

<p>z= (x-mu)/sigma does work</p>

<p>use invNorm to find the zscore of .005 and that value will have an x of 10.0
invNorm to find the zscore of .02 (area to left is .98) and that value will have x of 10.5</p>

<p>so u have two equations
mu - 2.576sigma = 10
mu + 2.054sigma = 10.5</p>

<p>and now u just solve for mu and sigma</p>
