AP Stats or Physics??

I’m currently a junior, and am looking ahead at a possible schedule for next year.

This year I’m taking
• AP Bio
• AP US History
• English 11 (AP not offered)
• Chinese 4
• Trig & Precalc
• independent study: student research

Out of 8 periods, 7 are full

My possible schedule for senior year is:
• AP Psychology
• Neuroscience
• Calculus
• independent study: student research
• AP Chinese
• English 12 (AP not offered)

That leaves 2 more spots, and I’m choosing between taking physics (I’ve taken bio and chem) and AP stats. Which class would make the schedule more competitive? I could technically take both, but then I wouldn’t have a free period. I don’t think that would be wise.

I’m interested in studying psychology and neuroscience in college, so AP stats seems more applicable. But physics is also important. I’m also not a math person, so taking 2 advanced math classes would be tough, though I’m willing to do the work.

Any and all thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!

I suggest for you to take AP Stats, since it’s more geared towards your aspirations. I’m currently in AP stats and it’s pretty easy. Not sure about AP physics; I heard it’s difficult to understand and is more competitive. You did say you’re not a math person, and Physics is a rigorous math-based science, so I would suggest AP stats definitely.

Physics would be non-AP!

Thank you for your response!

No problem!
