hi! i know alot of people talk about AP Stats being an EASY AP…so in terms of college admissions, would it look “better” to take regular calc/precalc, over AP stats? thanks in advance!

Take both if you can.

what do you mean regular calc? Calc AB? I think you should take one and self study the other since both aren't really that hard.

S is going to take regular Calc (not AP) and AP Stat.

is that a community college course or is that a school course? Calc I?

haha, only on CC would people consider "regular calc" to be AP Calc AB. no, i mean regular calc...as in high school.

Most high schools don't have "regular calc" - it's either AP or nothing at all.

my high school (public) offers Calculus (regular), AP Calc AB, and AP Calc BC.

clarification please. Is it easier than AB? What does it cover? Precalc stuff or differentiation and integration?

Well, our school has a course called "precalculus" (or honors precalculus). The next level is Calculus or AP Calculus. Pretty much, calculus covers the same material as AP Calc AB, but not so much in depth, and it also does not have the ultimate goal preparing for the AP exam.

why aren't you taking AP Calc if your school offers it?

^ becuz some schools have restricted admission to AP classes. OUr school has restricted admission and to get into AP Cal, you need a 3.5 unweighted and get at least a 90 percent on a qualifying examination

Hmm, I was deciding the same thing, though I'm deciding between the APs come senior year. We only get five classes a term, and I'm not having four of them be APs, thank you very much. =p I'm probably going with AP Calc as long as Pre-Calc doesn't kill me. If so, AP Stats it is!

why does it seem so illogical to everyone if someone doesn't take ap calc when it's offerered? Not everyone takes the hardest courseload in EVERY subject

At S's school (private boarding) very few kids take all APs. Two or Three of the 4 or 5 courses taken at one time is usually it. S did not take honors pre-calc (although it turns out he should have) because he was new at the school and wanted to take AP and honors in history and English instead of math and science. Therefore, he is going to stick with regular calculus and continue his AP track in the non-math/science areas. Other seniors might be taking AP Calc and an AP science, but regular English. The classes are all challenging-even the ones that aren't AP. The school really discourages the overloading of APs just to beef up the transcript.
