So, great oracle of CC which class would be better for me?

I'm absolutely horrendous at math, barely passing Alg.II last year. However I've been told that Statistics is easier than precalc, and I love the idea of fitting in another AP class instead of regular level... Would a good grade in that class help me?

What exactly is AP Stats like, and how are/is the test(s) structured compared with precalc?

Barely passing Algebra 2, as in a D/D-?

If so, don’t taken either. When people say AP Stats is easy, they mean it’s about as difficult as Algebra 2. If you got a D- in that, you’re not bound to do too much better in AP Stats. Give up on math and take an A in whatever subject you are good at.

That’s the problem though- I have no choice. Our school/state switched to a 4X4 plan starting with my graduating class (2011-Senior Baby!!) that stipulates that you MUST take a fourth year of math.

So my only choices are:
AP Statistics
Regular PreCalc
and a class called “Foundations of College Math”-aka AlgebraII part deux.

Also passing is a 70+ or C.

Take the AP class. AP will probably look better than a regular class.

Okay, that’s not as bad then.

Anyway, if you are not going to do anything that would use quantitative skills in college (that would include majors like Biology and Philosophy, and maybe others which you wouldn’t associate with math, but do use some of the same skill sets), take AP Stat.

The big difference is that AP Stat really just required you know how to use your calculator. Your calculator (TI-84 or something) has all the formulas built in, and you basically enter in numbers they give you, take numbers the calculator gives you back, and write a sentence (very formulaic sentence) about them. Precalc you can’t use a calculator, it’s mostly trig.

Uhh, sounds like I should be taking AP Stats.

Currently the majors that I’m considering are English, Psychology, a pre-law track, or Education-History.
