AP Stats

For someone who wants the AP credit for a mathematics AP course and isn’t good at math, is AP Stats worth taking? Or should I just stick with Honors for the rest of high school?

Note that I am a sophomore, and will either take it next year, along with AP Chemistry, Honors Precal, Honors English 3, and APUSH, or my senior year with AP Gov/Econ, Honors English 4, Honors Calculus, and AP Physics 1.

If you aren’t the best at math, you do not have to take AP Statistics or any AP Math. However, if you really like statistics or think statistics will help you for your future major. I recommend it to you. AP Statistics is a class where you learn about data, averages, etc. It’s a class about charts, graphs, probability, and such. As long as you like the subject and think you’re prepared, you should be fine. You only have to had completed Algebra 2 or Honors Algebra 2 in most areas in the US to take it. I would like to say though that I am a freshman, so sorry if my answer is terrible.

Have a good day!

If you think you can read a paragraph (of words), find 3 numbers, and plug it into your calculator in the correct order, then maybe you can do stats. (And it’s kinda more complicated than what I just described but believe me when I say you will see barely any numbers compared to AP calc). You will be analyzing data in stats.

Definitely recommend statistics, since it is applicable to the real world and useful for anything that you will study in the future. If you are concerned around you being ready, you can always self-study and get an idea of it during the summer through channels such as Khan Academy or even smaller ones like Hope Academy on Youtube.
