AP Stats

I'm going to be a sophomore taking pre-calculus next year. Should I take AP Statistics also? Or should I wait? And what have your AP Stats experiences been like?

Stats is easy. Lots of my friends took stats and precalc together in sophomore year. You should be fine.

im a junior taking pre calc and ap stats..pretty easy

Here's a statistic: I've spent 3 month in AP Stats, I want that part of my life back.

Boring and useless. Some say it's useful... yeah it's pretty much useless imo.

I think the worst decision I made in class selection was choosing stats over compsci last year.

Stats was probably the most useful math course I've taken. Take it. It's especially good for research.
It is a bit boring at times, though, and sometimes can be like an English class. It certainly involves a lot of writing. It's easy if you're cognizant of precision of language.

Stat in my school is easy to understand, but the tests for some reason are b****es. They seem so easy while taking but i end up getting a B- or a B

Stats is incredibly easy. It's also probably the most useful math class for those not going into a math-related field.

Stats was extremely easy for me. I had an online instructor (actually a prof at U Chicago), and basically self studied with a textbook+review book. I got an easy 5. I think stats is mostly understanding and memorizing how to do each problem. You must understand, for example, what a 2-sample T test is for, then use it when you have statistics on two samples and only an estimate of the standard deviation.
The writing is minimal, mostly easy experimental design stuff (blinding, placebos etc.)

BTW, i took stats my freshman year :D

Now physics on the other hand...

Why is it "so easy"? Or are you guys just really smart?

Maybe I just had a good teacher, but Stat was easy. I feel it was probably due to the teacher, because the new teacher this year makes the material hell, according to what friends tell me. I bought the Barrons review but didn't find much use of it. I paid attention in class, occasionally did homework, scored well enough on tests, and ended up passing the exam with a 4 despite not answering ANY of the long free response on the exam. It isn't hell, and I think it is an asset to anyone considering a course of study where research is involved (read: most careers). The math is simple and it is more like a critical thinking course moreso than pure math. Taking it won't help you in other math classes.

Only 1 month of preparation is needed to score well for independent studiers. The test was easy; it only tests basic knowledge. Basically anyone with a good math background would pass with a 3 with 1 week studying.
