Since AP Art is so conceptual, I was wondering if anyone who has taken AP Art before has any advice. What do they look for in your artwork? How can you get that 5?

Please look at AP central’s information on what they look :
2D design: [AP Central - The AP Studio Art 2-D Design Portfolio](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>AP 2-D Art and Design Portfolio – AP Central | College Board)
Drawing :
[AP Central - The AP Studio Art Drawing Portfolio](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>AP Drawing Portfolio – AP Central | College Board)

If you need additional help from there, or if you need something to be clarified, talk to the art teacher at your school. Or, you could PM me and I could try to explain. I got a 5 for Drawing (junior year) and a 4 for 3D (sophomore year)

Generally if you have decent technique and follow the directions on the AP posters, show some improvement over time… you should be able to get a 5

My advice If you’re taking studio art AP…get your concentration done the sooner the better! Don’t slack off and leave pieces the week before your portfolio is due! I am not a hardcore artist but am decent and enjoy it as a hobby and I made the mistake of consistently putting my work off and that was a bad idea.
