Did anyone here take this AP before? I'd like to hear some experiences, because I really want to do AP Art.....but I'm kind of worried about my course load next year (rising junior).

I'm taking
AP Spanish
AP English Lit
AP Bio
APUSH
AP Calc BC
and other things I'm doing throughout the year are sports, piano, volunteering and various clubs.

^ I think I can handle that load fine enough, but I'm not sure if Studio Art will take a lot of time and energy.

I took AP Studio Art Design this year, along with 3 other APs. I'm not going to lie, it did take up a lot of time and dedication to have all of my pieces ready; then again, I had a really good teacher who helped make sure we had a certain # of pieces end of quarter. Definitely take the teacher into account. See if you can reach anyone from your school who's taken the class. And know your limits. You're the best one to know exactly how much you can handle. If you feel up to the challenge, go for it, but don't kill yourself trying to do everything, or it won't be worth it.

And congrats on taking all those other classes!

I took AP art drawing this year. My course load was pretty similar to yours except without the AP Spanish. It was challenging because 24 pieces do require a lot of time and effort to complete. It all depends on how much time you're willing to dedicate to the class. If you don't have at least 10 hours a week outside of class, then you might want to reconsider taking the class.

Nobody takes 6 APs including AP Studio Art....most of my friends who've taken AP Studio (about a dozen) found that it took AT LEAST as much time as 2 extra AP classes (& not easy ones, like Bio or APES).

I took AP Drawing year along with AP's US history and Eng Lang/comp.
It took waaayyyyyy too much time and I only got a 3. I had to use 2 detail shots in the end b/c I couldn't finish all of them and I used a drawing I did the previous summer to fill in an extra one. (although my teacher only had us start on portfolios a month into the year)..so if u knew what to start working on and u started over the summer if your teacher allowed it that would be a good idea.
