AP Lit-- Jane Eyre.. really good book but SO long, like 680 pages.
AP Enviornmental-- some really boring book thats 300 pages.. what lovley reading!

our summer reading for AP lit is easy:

Babbit
mythology
bible

For AP lit, we get to choose two out of a LOT of books...My choices?
Of Mice and Men
Crime and Punishment

Jane Eyre is good? are you talking about that english book with all those English ppl? i tried reading it, got lost after page 100 something
it was so confusing, with all those rich ppl and their names... i think MR. Elton or something =S

bump, oh, by the way, what state are you guys from?

In Eyre.. theres not THAT many people.. and you'll discover that Jane is the only constant character that remains besides a visit from Bessie around page 120-130ish i believe (I only read up to page 200 so far, and theres like 452423 versions of the book, I have the one with a brown spine). It's actually pretty good. My mom told me that she read it when she was younger and its a mystery that seems decent. It's also not that bad of a read at all. I just personally listen to my ipod and read at the same time, it goes like a breeze. I am from NY if you wanted to know.

I'm in Georgia (metro Atlanta)

and I just started reading Oedipus today and it's not that bad...now if I could only stay awake...

I'm from Colorado

10th grade world history ap i had to read World REligions and Guns Germs and Steel. For 11th grade AP American I read the Killer Angels and for 11th grade English language I read Scarlet Letter and i can't remember lol. This year Ap English lit i have to read SIddhartha and 100 years of solitude. For AP Latin I have to read The Aeneid.

My summer AP English required reading:

1984
King Lear
Moby Dick
One Hundred Years of Solitude

Plus one independent reader I get to choose from the book lists on the UC Berkeley recommended reading list for incoming Freshmen.

ap english:
a midsummer night's dream- shakespeare
king lear- shakespeare

I thought it sucked but compared to everyone elses it seems pretty good

I'm from Virginia

Ap Language And Comp:
Ceremony
Adventures Of Huck Finn

For those of you who read Heart of Darkness, it might interest you to read Chinua Achebes response to the book. He didn't like it, and that's part of what drove him to write Things Fall Apart.

AP Lit
Cat's Eye (Margaret Atwood)
Cry, the Beloved Country (Alan Paton)
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (Alexander Solzhenitsyn)
The Third Life of Grange Copeland (alice Walker)

Isn't is illegal to force students to read the Bible?

I am surprised to see that I have read many of the books people have posted for AP English classes, such as:
1984, Things Fall Apart, Hamlet, Hard Times, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Tess of the D'urbervilles, The Odyssey, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Adventures Of Huck Finn, etc.

And I have not taken any AP or Honors English courses.

The only summer homework I have this year is for AP lit, for which i have to read Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet.

Lit:
A lesson before dying, Tale of 2 cities, heart of darkness, and a poetry book of our choice (pulitzer winning)
