AP summer reading list

im not going to read my books until late august b/c last year I read them in july and no longer remembered most of the details by the time school started

AP US:

The Jungle - Upton Sinclair
Founding Brothers - Joseph Ellis

I usually read through the books in July, then use Sparknotes to refresh my memory right before school starts. However, Founding Brothers is quite boring so far.

I personally like the book. At first, i thought that it wouldn't interest me, but i was wrong. Yes, it's a fast read. that was one fo the reasons i chose it. The other choices were too long.

Ap english
i have to read one from each of the genres:

euripides/ Medea
Ibsen/Hedda Gabler
Drama: hellman/ The Children's Hour
Austen/ Pride and Prejudice
British Novels: hardy/ The Return of the Native

Steinbeck/ Grapes of Wrath
American Novels:
sinclair/the jungle
chopin/ the awakening
morrison/ sula
Contemp. Novels:

Hurston/ Their Eyes were watching God

What do you think I should read in the British Novel and Classical Drama genre? preferably short and interesting....haha.

I would read Jane Eyre since I'm reading it right now and I love it. :) Although, it is very long, it has a very engaging plot that won't bore you. It's a good, fun read, honestly.

I don't read much of classical drama so I can't really comment on that. Medea by Euripides is suppposedly very good but I could be wrong.

thanks Cryptic! How long do you think it would take you to finish it?

their eyes were watching god
the stranger
a lesson before dying

ooh the stranger. I read that in french class. (in french)

IB English:

Life and Death in Shanghai

I actually just finished Jane Eyre right now. It's a long book, a bit over 500 pages with a miniscule font size. I think it took me about a week and a half to finish it with a couple of hours of reading every other day. If you really don't feel like reading a long book, you might want to switch to something else but I honestly love the book.
