I have till May of 2016 to self - study AP EuroH, AP Macro and Microeconomics and AP Art History. I also need to study for the SAT Test which I will be taking in January. Time allocation is very important. So I was wondering on a scale of 1-10 how hard each of the AP subjects I’m studying? This way I will be able to allocate my times efficiently. Self study book titles are also appreciated!
Currently I have th PDFs of
Art History:
Gardeners Art Through The Ages: A Global Histroy
Gardeners Art Through The Ages: A Western Perspective
The Annotated MONA Lisa
A History of Western Art
REA AP Art History + Software
European History:
Crash Couse AP European History
Please recommend
Macroeconomics:
Krugmans Macroconomis for AP
Principles of Economics - Mankiw 5th Edition
Cliffs AP Micro and Macro
Educator - AP Macroecomics Course
5 Steps to a 5. - AP Economis 2008-2009
Crash Course AP Macroeconomics
Microeconomics:
5 Steps to a 5 - AP economics 2008-2009
Principles of Economics - Mankiw 5th edition
Cliffs AP Micro and Macro
Principles of Microeconomics - Mania 6th edition
So if you could please recommend some books or tell me which books in my list are useless or if I have too many or too little that would would be great. Please also do the scale so I can allocate my time wisely.
Are you just starting? I can’t comment on Micro, but I would say for the others, from hardest to easier, Art History, European History, and Macro. I took AP Art history and am now taking AP Euro (along with some others), and it may be challenging to study both in one year (they have a lot of information) depending on how much time you plan to dedicate on them. Good luck!
I’m not a big fan of self studying, as I’ve stated on numerous threads. However, if you are so determined:
Macro/micro are the easiest. I’m not familiar with Mankiw, but any text on the CB recommended list (which this is) should be fine. You really only need one prep book; I used Princeton Review. You can easily borrow it if you don’t want to buy it.
Art History - the difficulty will be how much you are into art. Either Gardner’s book is fine; you do not need both. As both Gardner’s and Mona are weak on non-Western art, REA is a good supplement. That’s all you need.
European History - Sorry I have no experience (I am taking the class), and I cannot imagine self studying this one. If you have experience with DBQ’s from taking APUSH or APWH, you might be OK. Otherwise this may be a challenge.
