DD took the AP Chemistry test today and there were a few problems with the administration of the test. Due to crowding issues at her HS, the test was at a fairly new facility a short distance away.
Snafu #1- Not enough tests booklets. One student was asked to leave the room and everyone felt very sorry for him.
Snafu #2- Room lost power and students were unable to start the FRQ portion of the test. They now have to return another day for the FRQ portion.
My DD has heard that the makeup day FRQ’s are more difficult. Does anyone know if this is true or has anyone had a DS/DD with a terrible AP testing day story?
While make up exams may have a different level of difficulty, it is only because the questions are different, there is no truth that they made to be more difficult. There’s a equal chance they may be easier. It also depends on the student taking the exam and what topics they are strong or weak in. The make up exams are constructed at the same time as the operational exams and the scores are set based on standards applied across similar versions for similar groups of students across years of exams. A student who would get a 5 on the operational exam should also get a 5 on the make up exam.
Exactly. Regardless of which test is more difficult (and this is subjective) it is extremely unlikely that a student would score any differently.
Thank you AP Physics Guy and skieurope for your replies! My daughter will feel much better now when she takes the makeup exam. Funny the rumors that swirl!
