Do AP test scores play a role in college admissions?

I was just about to post a similar thread. Will prestigous schools totally frown upon a 3? Will my multiple 5's give me an admission boost? Good question excel!

Yeah, good question, I'd like to hear that as well. Unlike many, I am good test-taker but not an assiduous scholar.

well from what I've heard.
Put the scores on app if you have like 4s or 5s but don't if you have 3s.
It's optional (for most colleges) and not even on common app.
So like all the other optional things, put it on if it's good, don't if it's not.

Really? I made a thread a month ago and everyone told me it has no role whatsoever in college admission. Supposedly, it only determines if you will gain credit in college for receiving a 3 or higher (4 or 5 in some places). But I'd like to know what more people have to say about this...

Whatever the role, it is insignificant compared to other factors, I think. However, your scores may tell the admission staff something about the grading in your school and the true level of difficulty of classes. For example, if you make an A in the class but make a 2 on the AP exam.
