AP Testing

Last year I heard a couple seniors talking about AP testing and one of them asked the other why they were taking the AP test if it wasn’t going to make a difference for them. So my question is, if I take an AP test as a senior, will it still count for college credit? Thanks!

If you get a high enough score for the college you are going to you can get credit for the class.

Answer: Depends upon the school and it does not matter when you take the AP tests as long as you have AP scores to report to the college you plan to attend.

Some schools will give AP credit for scores 3,4 and 5
Some schools will giveAP credit for 4 & 5’s and some only scores of 5.
Some schools will give no AP credit.

If you have any schools of interest, just google AP credit policy for {school name} and it will give you an idea of it is worth taking the AP exam for that particular subject.

Most state colleges accept 3/4s. Look at the colleges you want to attend and see their policy.

It all depends on which college you are attending, and which exams you take. Some will allow you to place out of intro courses, while others will allow you to use the credit to take lighter semesters (For example, taking less credits first semester while you adjust to college).

One example- my friend is a freshman at a HYPSM school, and received about 20 credits from her AP classes in high school. It can be beneficial in that regard, as she can do more study abroad and has more flexibility to take lighter semesters.
