Am I going to be placed in classes based on my performance during BCT placement tests, or is it a combination of those tests and AP tests? What if I don’t take the AP Calc test but I want to be placed in the right math? Would you recommend validating classes to get a head start, or would that be too hard? Thanks in advance-

Well I think I found the answer:

Can cadets transfer credits or validate courses?
When you enter the Academy, you'll take several validation tests offered by the various academic departments. Successful completion of a test will enable you to be placed in an accelerated or advanced course, or perhaps to receive validation credit and substitute another course. Representatives from each department review transcripts of new cadets who have prior college credit. Credit may be awarded for any satisfactorily completed college course that is equivalent to a course in the Academy curriculum. A cadet who passes a validation examination or who makes an acceptable score on a College Board Advanced Placement examination may also earn validation credit. Departments certify this credit to the Office of Registrar, Customer Service.

But I am still curious if you 4-degrees up there recommend diving head first into a rigerous workload. What did you guys do?

If you know a topic well, I would suggest trying to validate. I could have validated Calc I and II, but I chose to be placed in a calc II class. I realized that I did not know Calc II well enough. It is a personnal choice. I would reccomend trying to validate subjects you are comfortable with.

What raimius said lol. I validated to the max, and the courses are better suited for me both work-wise and material. (I typically have less reading/HW compared to core courses).

Some courses will take just the AP test. Others require both a validation and AP, some only require validation. English, Comp Sci (211 level), Biology only need AP. Freshman comp sci, chemistry, math require the validation. If you score slightly low on validations, usually a high AP will help if you are borderline validating. Languages have validation tests in BCT.

My first semester:
Chemistry 222
Honors Calculus 253 (III)
Honors Comp Sci 110H
Engineering 100
Japanese 221

Now:
Honors Physics 110H
Econ 200 (only freshman in here I think)
Scholars Behavioral Science 110S
Scholars History 101S
Japanese 222
Military Strategic Studies 100

I am done with advanced math (need one semester of stats intro)

Hornetguy what do you plan to major in?

I declared Biochemistry as my major with Japanese as a minor.

Why you taking computer science?

It is a core course.

I plan and have planned to major in computer science since I was about 7 years old. :)
