I'm taking 6 AP classes this upcoming year as a senior, and I was wondering which AP tests I should NOT take come May because I don't think I can possibly prepare for and score 4's or 5's (which is a must) on all 6 exams, unlike some geniuses on CC. These are the AP classes I'm taking:

-AP Bio
-AP Calc AB
-AP English Literature
-AP Macroeconomics
-AP US Gov't
-AP Stat

So which of these classes should I take the class, but not the AP exam? I'm thinking it'll probably be AP Stat because it isn't a "core class" like the others on the list, but Statistics is still required in college, so I might need the credit.

If you want the credit for stats then you SHOULD take the exam.

As for the rest:
Calc AB - Definitely take the AP exam as well, easiest AP out there, easy 5
English Lit - Depends. It’s a tough one. If you really don’t want to take any English in College OR are going to be an English Major, take it. Otherwise, Don’t
Macroeconomics - Take the AP exam, easy 4 at least
US Gov- This one is sort of tough exam, but not too much work either to prepare. You may not want to take it
Stat- Very easy 5, and you want the credit so take it (little or no work to prepare for the AP)
Bio- Pretty easy 5 but requires work. You may not want to take this…

So, definitely take Calc, Stat, and Macroeconomics. The ones you may not want to take are US Gov, English Lit, and Bio, although none of these are really hard either.

What’s wrong if you don’t get a 4 or 5? Colleges will not deny you acceptance, since they already will have made a decision. I think you should take all of them, even if you don’t get 4’s or 5 on some there’s no harm done (Except you lose 86, so if money is a concern then don’t take all of them I guess).

bobtheboy,
If I already took the AP Eng Language exam as a junior and got a 4 on it, would that get me enought credit to skip English in college? Would getting a 4 or 5 on the Lit. exam get me more credit, or are the two interchangeable?

unfortunately, i really don’t know. I know english language gives you credit for one english class, but I don’t know if literature is also a required class in college

Yes, the two APs credits are interchangeable most colleges will you give you credit for only one.

You should just take all of them … if you get a 3 on one, and you’ve already gotten into college, nothing’s going to happen. Unless you’re aiming to get an AP Scholar award, take all of them; you’ll never know what’ll come in handy in college.
