This isn't for me, but it's for a friend.

My friend is obviously going into the pre-med route. She's asked me loads about her schedule (I'm older, so I'm helping her out as much as possible) and I was just thinking, should she take AP Chem/AP Physics and test out of them, or should she wait until college? We're worried that the material learned in HS will not be the same at college in preparation of the MCAT.

She can take those classes if she wants, but she should know that med schools will want her to take them again in college. They frown upon using AP credit for pre-reqs (bio, chem, physics, etc.). Many flat-out don’t accept it. If she did pass the test, she would likely have to waive her credit and retake those same classes in college. That said, it might be helpful to have the background, which could make the college classes easier.

That thread says the same thing, plus a little more.

Silversaline is correct that most medical schools will not accept AP credit to fulfill pre-med requirements. Most will accept a higher level course in lieu of a lower level pre-req. For instance, if you use AP credit to place out of general chemistry and jump right into organic chemistry, most medical schools will be okay with that as long as you take a higher level chemistry class to make up for not taking general chem (say, physical chemistry or analytical chemistry).

On the other hand, as that thread says, a small number of schools will not accept substitutes for pre-reqs. Similarly, there are also some schools that will accept AP credit.
