AP Tests without School Classes?

I’m a ninth grader in high school. I’m taking a bio AP test prep online, and it covers all the material that will be on the AP test. However, I’m not taking the actual AP class at school. I joined the class originally because I like bio, but a lot of people taking it don’t take the class at school and want to take the test at the end of the year. Should I take the test at the end of the year? If I do badly, can I take it again after I take bio AP in school and will the first one count against me during college admissions?

You can cancel AP scores of you don’t do well so colleges will never see them. That being said, AP Bio is considered one of the harder APs and not normally taken by freshman so really think about whether or not your course is going to prepare you well enough for it to be worth spending the time and money on taking the test.

Did you take biology before, and are you good at biology? Biology isn’t impossible to study alone to pass the AP scores, but you can cancel the scores you get for the AP test. The only thing is you’d be wasting time and money if you aren’t confident you can do it.

I’m just interested in biology and I want to study in that field. Thank you so much for your answer!
