Their application says to list your scores only if you've taken the tests. AP tests are not REQUIRED, but are just one of many factors. Some ivy leagues don't even ask for AP scores (like Columbia). Let that give you an impression on how important AP scores are. If you've got great SAT II scores, then I wouldn't worry too much. You're more than just numbers.

If your transcripts lists AP classes taken, then I would assume that Upenn would like to see your scores. They would expect you to take the tests. However, not all schools offer AP courses so not everyone is obligated. I really do not know much about Upenn, but I think they focus more on SAT and SAT II's for admissions decisions and AP scores for placement.

Right. If you took the class and didn't write the scores, they might be suspicious of something. Not having many AP scores will not affect your application, but having repeated 1s and 2s will probably be detrimental.

i recently had a chat with an admission officer and he told me that ap tests cannot hurt your application, they can only add to it. Essentially, I think he meant that if you have a 3,4 or 5 dont be ashamed to write down your scores. I mean something is always better than nothing.
