AP transfer credit

I was just looking at the AP transfer credit: Is it worthwhile to take AP Music Theory (The test is on Monday.)? I got into Marshall, and according to their 2008-09 credit transfer program (<a href="http://marshall.ucsd.edu/pdfs/ap_chart.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://marshall.ucsd.edu/pdfs/ap_chart.pdf</a>), I can only receive "Disciplinary Breadth" units. Is this worthwhile/necessary?

I read that the disciplinary breadth requires four units of both upper and lower division courses. So do AP credits not count for the upper-division requirement? Thanks!

I don’t know what exactly your AP score would cover, but I assume it would be the 2 lower-division courses. AP scores do not cover upper division classes. If you take Music Theory and pass, then I assume you’d only have to take 2 more quarters worth of upper-division music courses to fulfill Marshall’s Disciplinary Breadth GE. (Remember that Disciplinary Breadth requires four quarters of study in a field non-contiguous to your major field of study)

Thanks! I guess I’ll just take it and deal with it later.

Good luck :] I heard that Music Theory is one of the hardest APs, but if you’re considering taking it, I’m sure you’re prepared :]
