Our class just finished the gilded age and took the midterm sent out by college board. I did well on the multiple choice, missing only 3. I did well on the short answers, getting all credit. But I didn’t hit the “synthesis” part very well on the long essay. Pains me when I saw it. The prompt itself was confusing and asked for specifics.

Anyways, outside of reading the book (I have the American pagent), I would MOST definitely reccomend the “jocz productions” on YouTube to help recap the books. I would read the AP notes available on the interwebs. Outside of those 3 resources, I would AVOID crash course by John green. It is VERY VERY broad and skips over many, many, many important concepts that the APUSH class teaches. There are better resources to spend your time on. Before any test, and if I have finished using the 3 other resources, I will read over Barron’s every now and then. I read over the parts abou articles of confederation, the revolutionary war, and most of the civil war as there is so much Information available right now. The best thing you can do is, in my opinion, after the Jocz videos, the APnotes, and reading the book is take the quizzes available in the review book.

Overall, it takes maybe 5 hours total to throughly study for a test for me. Granted, I do read the book in class as opposed to the lectures.

Hi guys I have a question. So my APUSH class is really hard and it looks like B+ may be the highest grade I’m going to get (though of course I’m shooting for that A-). Do you think a 5 on the AP exam and a high score on the SAT II exam (i.e. 750-800) would make up for the B+ on the transcript?

Has anyone bought a “2015 Edition” prep book yet or are you guys sticking to the AMSCO + Crash Course method?
I have the pdf of these books but I don’t know if they’ll work for the new exam. What do you guys think?
Well, I’m currently in APUSH right now. My class is really easy because my teacher is a newer teacher. WE have only written two essays and are just now talking about the DBQ. It’s a lot of independent reading and no lecturing in class. We have a lot of worksheets and review packets. I"m really nervous for the actual AP exam. I feel like I’m not prepared.
@suprstar16 I understand you. I’m taking it online, but I am still nervous for the actual exam. I write about 3 essays per unit so I feel pretty prepared in that aspect, but the practice tests we have taken have been terrible. It takes me way more than the time allowed to complete a test
Took the class last year. My biggest piece of advice to those taking it this year: Don’t worry. I’ve talked with my APUSH teacher from last year and guess what, this year the class is even easier. None of you should have any issue getting at least a 4 on the AP exam.
How to get a 4 on the APUSH exam:
-Pay attention in class (pay extra special attention to big social justice topics)
-Maybe work on your essay writing a bit if you’re completely terrible at that
-Always write essays with a slight liberal viewpoint. It’s hard to do if you’re typically more of a conservative (like my APUSH class), but that’s what we were told to do and hey, it worked. All of us got at least a 4.
At my school I see all these kids panicking about the class and I’m just laughing. If you pay attention you’re gonna get a 4.
@BlankFusion Have you by chance bought or found an answer key for the 2015 AMSCO? I cannot find a way to buy it (the answer key) on the Internet and I can’t find a pdf of it either…
So recently my APUSH grade has not bee as good as it could be, and I think it’s because of the new type of stimulus questions and the short answer questions. I can usually do fact-recall pretty well, but the stimulus and short answer screws me up. Anyone have good sources for practice questions like these?
-What textbook are you using?
American Pageant and AMSCO are really great for APUSH
-Previous students: what did you think of the test?
The test is not bad as long as you understand and thoroughly review past concepts. Like any AP history class, you need to get how events in history relate with one another and fall into the bigger picture of things.
-How are you going to prepare for the test?
Back in the day I prepared by using a Barron’s review book. Nowadays there are a lot of resources out there that can be good on-the-go help i.e. Adam Norris’ channel on YouTube
