AP U.S. history

what's the best AP US history book? i heard amsco was great so i picked that one up, but what do you guys think .. ?

amsco all the way

or REA...

either one will get you a five IF you memorize the information in them.

lets get serious though, how can they make us memorize about 200 years of american history? its ridiculous to learn all the dates, names, and events ha, it really isnt fair.

a combination of both rea and amsco

I have the Kaplan which i use to review problems... i learn from reading a textbook and from my teacher

Doesn't really matter about which book you get as long as your teacher is good

How good is Sparknotes book?

i couldn't get the AMSCO book, but I'm memorizing the Kaplan SAT II and the AP Princeton Review...will that be enough for both tests?

i just got the princeton review. what does amsco have that makes it so good in general?

yeah what is amsco? i have never heard of this
i say, read the textbook!

AMERICAN PAGEANT 12th ED FOR THE WIN!!! WHOOOO!

^^^ you are crazy, that woould take forever!!!

my teacher recommends barrons but says rea is also good.

Amsco and REA are both really good. But I like amsco better. =)

Yeah, what is the "AMSCO" book everyone is talking about? I couldn't find one named that when I looked. I personally think the Barron's flashcards are pretty helpful for organizing categories chronologically in a way that isn't really available elsewhere but you'd need a book to go in conjunction with them...

If you're taking the course, take the full year to learn the American Pageant.

Then brush up with Princeton Review, your school notes, and maybe United States History by Birdsall S. Viault. Viault's books are probably the best cross between a full textbook and a review book.

i kno im prolly gonna get flamed for this but the REA sucks...i mean the practice tests in the back are great but the content review is really.

for instance, some of the ques from the tests in the back arent even covered in the content review.

and the wording is really stupid too...lol just my take on this, anyone agree?

I think REA is great..I'm almost done with the review, I'm at Nixon.

Also, when does the AP US content stop? the 80s right? I'm pretty sure I dont need to review Bush Sr.'s presidency..

My teacher really sucked so I had to rely on one AP book and that was 5 steps to a 5 and it actually got me a 5. Oh, and there were also lots of online outlines that other AP teachers had made for the class. Those help a lot.

Welcome to APNotes.net :: 100% notes, 0% crap is great. It outlines every chapter in the American Pageant.

tru dat to spazattack. i use those notes for every quiz and test this year, make note cards of all the bold face terms, and make note cards of the terms i boxed in during class notes. results: 85 to 99 on every test and quiz (he wouldn't give me the 100, there is always something wrong with one's essay, grammar or sp, which no one history teacher will check, so thats where the -1 pt came from).

and i hope googleyed is right, thats the book i'm using. give me a 5 too please...or a 4.
