I signed up to take AP US gov next year which is the only AP course avaliable to sophmores at my school. It will be my first AP but I’m halfway through the reading assignment which has allowed me to develop a strong interest in the class or the overall subject itself. International relations and political science are two majors that I have definately been interested in. I know AP US Gov will help with that and I’m also interested in self studying for Comparative Gov since my school does not offer it all. Assuming that the content for the two subjects are related in some way, would it be wise to take on both exams in the same year? If so, when would be a good time to start studying for Comparative Gov and how would I go about finding a place to take the exam?

AP Comparative Government has some basic concepts as U.S government. You definitely should take both in the same year: I think it’s doable. I scored a 5 on both this year and it was not that stressful.

I would talk to your counselor about finding a testing location. Luckily, my district offered it at a different school. You can start studying the weekend before like I did (literally read the ENTIRE book in 2 days) and use Ethel Woods Comp. Gov and Politics. It has everything you will ever need for the exam (and more)!

Good luck!

Thank you!
