I plan on taking both the AP US and US SAT II exams in May. I was wondering if I should buy a separate book for the AP US exam and a separate book for the SAT II. In addition, which AP US exam book would you recommend? Thank you in advance for the responses!

u wrote ur post as u would an essay..lol "in addition"

u could get a separate book if u wanted to..did u get any book yet? u should deff. get one for the AP exam

In my AP book it said that it could also be used for the SAT 2 American History.

I wondered the same, then I looked into it. Basically, don't bother. The SAT II for USH is supposed to be like the AP exam. The most you would need is a practice test / test structure for the SAT II, so I'd recommend getting the all-inclusive SAT II prep book (the one that covers all SAT IIs). That's what I'm doing.

You do have a prep book for the AP exam, though, right?

In addition, I see and use "in addition" in informal speech...

quick tip: sat II focus alot more on current stuff 1960s - present so remember to go over that as well

i didnt buy a book for the AP last year but I did for the SAT 2
the SAT 2 deals a lot more with the 20th century than the AP
I personally felt the AP MC was easier than the SAT 2 because my class didnt get very far in the 20th century
i still ended up making a 5 and got a 730 on the SAT 2

man if i got a 5 on this may's exam for AP USH my teacher's minds will be like blown away.. a C+ student getting a 5. lol

Jimgotkp, agreed. :D

I bought both last year but used the SATII one for most of studying. It is enough if you already possess a sufficient understanding of the DBQ methods. If you are unsure about the essay stuff, go ahead and get the AP. I got a 710 and a 4, but of course neither of the two book mentioned "womens issues in post colonial to civil war era" LOL. (The long essay last year).I found the MC questions very comparable,
