Im taking AP US GOV (full year course) this fall.. any tips about the class or AP TEST? Any links/websites you would recommend bookmarking or that are very helpful?

I’m taking the class too!

Do you know what textbook you’re going to be using?

I don’t know the textbook I’ll be using @letmeseetheworld.

Thanks for the link @Patriots9608.

Don’t fall asleep in class, no matter how hard it is.

its a hard class? i heard its one of the easier ap’s

Read the book word for word, cover to cover. And take good notes.

@kns1444 Do you have any tips for taking good notes?

I have to take notes on the first chapter of the textbook over the summer and it’s 30plus pages.

I have to do some stupid research assignment

Lol. I have to take notes and write a bunch of essays.

What is your research assignment on?

Well, make sure they’re detailed, but don’t spend so much time and effort that you’re not paying attention to the text. I would read a paragraph, them write notes. If you can remember it enough to jot down notes: great. If not, you know that you need to read it again. As for format, I would do some type of outline with titles, subtitles, etc. use indents to separate them:
United States Congress
- Senate
-100 members
-2 per state
-new jersey plan - House of reps
-565 members
-based on population
-Virginia plan
Basically, the notes should serve as a tool to memorize WHILE you are taking notes. The format should help you organize the structure, so you understand the info. Remember, the amount of info in your notebook is useless if you don’t remember it. So don’t just mindlessly copy information.
And have some fun with it. Watch a couple legislation related movies after studying the chapter; it’ll help you remember and further understand it. I reccomend Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. It’s a classic :)

Ugh. My formatting didn’t work. There’s supposed to be indents.
->1. Senate
---->-100 members
---->-2 per state
-------->-new jersey plan

is the ap test hard?

The movie can be found on YouTube. It’s in black and white, but it truly is a great movie. It will allow you to see the concepts that you’ve read about in action.

My teacher supposedly sucks… of all his kids last year, only 3 got 5’s.

I taken the the exam this year. The class was… laughably pathetic. IMO, you were better off self-studying because all I did was basically relearned stuffs I mainly already knew (I watch CNN during the 2008 election and wow how useful it can be for Gov’t.) (and the teacher didn’t even “teach” so we were basically self-studying anyway).

I’ll admit the exam caught me off guard because the teacher did NOT keep us certain things. As for book for preparing, I recommend Crash Course. It cover most of the things that was in class and in the exam (I had a separate book for class).

I’m going to be taking the, at my school, semester long class and I’m looking forward to it, especially since I will ideally be voting next year and I feel like the course will be really helpful to becoming an educated voter. Also, do any of you guys know if taking AP U.S. beforehand really helps with AP U.S. Gov?

I don’t think so. It wouldn’t matter because AP Gov is fairly easy on it own. If you’ve taken a non-AP US history class, it would also help.

I haven’t taken either, but I heard it’s one of the easier AP’s

I took this class online, but slacked off and got a B. The exam however is a breeze. I didn’t study with a prep book until May, and this was the only exam that I got a 5 on this year.

wow nice job.
