I was just wondering if anyone had self studied for this test and had sucess. I was enrolled in it for my Sernior Year but because of lack of interest it did not run. However depending on how rigorous an AP it is I might consider self studying and taking the test without the class in May. Just curios to hear you're experiences...

AP US Gov't is easy and self-studiable. My AP US Gov't teacher was so inept it was better to not go to class and self-study then to go to class. Anyways, if you just want a 3 you don't need that much studying. Just get Barrons, its harder than the real AP Test.

agreed. my teacher was also completely useless and we learned nothing.

i studied pretty much all the material about a week before using princeton review, kaplan and spark notes and got a 5.

My AP Gov't class consisted of John Stossel videos, casual conversation, and debates over immigration. We rarely took notes. There was a lot of assigned reading, but one was better off not reading because the tests were random anyways. It was a great class in the sense the teacher was cool and laid back -- though, the random grades he assigned were frustrating.

In conclusion, you should be able to get a five by self studying.

I got a four. I studied a little bit the night before from Princeton review.

I started studying with PR a week before the test and got a 5..with maybe only 1-2 hours per day except for the weekend before

Use the CliffsAP. That's easily the best book out there. Princeton Review is a nice supplement for the tests at the end of the book, but don't waste your money on anything else. Kaplan is absolutely garbage.
