AP US Govt. and Politics

Easy AP or not?

I'm considering self-studying it.

(That 6% for 5's is kind of depressing >.<)

I'd say it's pretty easy. The short answer questions are nothing like APUSH (they're WAY easier).

I heard it's easy to pass but hard to get a 5.

Did you get a 5?

If so, what book did you use?

US Gov't is probably the easiest exam to self study for. I practically read all of Princeton Review (and only princeton review) the night before the exam, with little prep in the days leading up to the test. What makes the test so easy is that it doesn't cover a lot of material (not nearly as much as could be covered). Princeton Review is the only resource I used, and I got a 5.

duno if u are smart like the person above you, i can never cover a book in one day...with so much material.

i m taking that class right now, yes i think u should self study, cuz we dont really do anything, except study guide and read, vocab quiz, its just like you self study, with a supervisor...and we watch debates..

i take that cuz our school combined AP us gov and comparative gov together,, sort of? so I can take 2 AP test in the end, but I got ethel wood guide for comparative gov,,,,

I think I'll end up taking the class at FLVS for the free A, though.

And I'll learn stuff. :p

how was ap gov online. how was the final exam?

DREWALL - FLVS AP US Gov was not a fun course. I took AP Macro and Micro through FLVS, and those were very enjoyable courses. The online textbook was interesting with concise chapters, and it had a search function. The courses themselves were a decent length. However, AP Gov was very long for an 18-week course with lots of modules and assignments. The textbook was long, boring, poorly-written, jingoistic, and lacked a search function. Also, tests were taken from the textbook’s test bank. Some of the quiz and test questions were ridiculous, asking you to remember things like exact vote counts of court cases. The final exam was a decent challenge because of this. However, the material itself is very easy to learn conceptually. There was very little room for debate and opposing viewpoints in the course; information was just thrown at you. One more thing I did not like about FLVS AP Gov was that quizzes were timed and could not be reset (unlike in econ where you could reset quizzes a couple of times if you did poorly). I ended up with a 95 in the class without ever studying. It’s doable, but it’s a very annoying class to deal with.
