AP US Hist vs. SAT2 US Hist

Has anyone taken both the AP US History exam and the SAT Sub Test in US History and done well in both (4 or 5 and 700+). Could you compare the AP multiple choice section to the SAT US Hist Test? Which one was harder, easier, or were they virtually the same in difficulty level and style?

brother please. the SAT2s are designed for honors classes. taking one after having taken an AP in that class is like shooting fish in a barrel.

i took both last year and my AP grades were delayed so i cant tell you how i did on that, but i got an 800 on the SAT2

same with Bio..i took the AP and then got an 800 on the SAT2

once you complete the AP class and do well in it you'll have not problem witht he SAT 2. Best of luck!

I got a 5 on AP US and got a 750 on the US SATII. They're pretty similar in difficulty level, but I thought that the SAT II had a lot of graphs/maps/visuals that took a lot of time to examine. I think it was like 90 questions in 100 minutes or something, which was too fast for me. I actually preferred the AP exam to the SAT II.

800/5.

at least 10 questions were repeated directly between may sat ii and ap...

800/4

The AP exam and the SAT II multiple choice questions are very similar. The main difference is that the SAT II contains more matter-of-fact questions, rather than interpretive questions.

PS. AMSCO is your friend.

750/5

I thought the questions on the AP test were a little more involved/relied more on critical thinking, but both for the most part were fairly easy. (that stupid 750 is because I didn't study for the test, and hadn't really paid attention to history after 1960-the test questions I missed were on the '70s, '80s, and some random old stuff I couldn't remember :p) Oh, and anon_person is right-I did notice several questions on the AP test that were similar to the ones on the SAT II.

I haven't taken the SAT II yet, but I got a 5 on APUSH, and I did the CB practices and I got them all right... It was much easier than AP.

I thought that I was very prepared for the SATII in US History after AP, I scored 800/5.

Took SAT II first - 710 no studying

Took AP - 5

SAT II MC is a little easier.

800/5

The questions seemed very similar to me.

five on ap 770 on satII. satII had too many culture/art questions for me, but otherwise i thought they were pretty similar

S2 got 770 SAT II (May) and 5 on AP. Came out knowing he did really well on both. AMSCO is worth the money, he says.

I haven't officially taken the SAT II US history yet, but I took a practice test and got a 730 and I only got a 3 on the AP exam (self studied). I definately don't think it's as hard as the AP exam.

AP USH >> SAT II USH
Take the SAT just before the AP (MAY sitting)

AP:4
SAT II: 790

I thought they were both the same

I actually think SAT 2's in history are harder than AP's. I got a 5 on my World History test, and 730 on the SAT 2. I studied way, way harder for the SAT 2 b/c it's pure facts. The AP's can be fudged a bit more IMO...
(I also got a 5 on APUSH and know I would not have done well on the SAT 2 from a look at practice questions)

I got 5 on the AP and an 800 on the SAT II and I can tell you the truth......the Ap is much harder. The multiple choice questions are not cut and dry, but need interpretations a lot of the time and the difficulty of the essays (very individual) can heavily influence how you do. The sat II is a cake walk. The questions were so easy and simple...if you like history and know it then it is a breeze. I skipped like 2 questions on art that were weird and was done with 20 min to spare.

720 and a 5
The essay portion is my strength. I think thats why I did better on the AP exam

Well I got a 5 on the AP World exam but a 700 on the SAT II, in my opinion the AP World exam was WAY EASIER than the SAT II, I'm retaking the World History SAT II in December, this time I'm actually studying for it.

BTW the collegeboard study guide for World History is really easy, i took both practice tests and scored 780, but the actual test was MUCH harder.
