Is it a good idea to take AP US History AND AP World History concurrently? I'm not taking AP Euro, because the teacher at my school is simply terrible and does not prepare his students for the exam.

At my school, AP World History has an infamous reputation of being the hardest history class, given the 5,000 years or so of history that it covers. And even though APUSH only covers about 200 years, the workload of both AP classes are about the same.

Would it be a good idea to take both of them at the same time? I'd really appreciate it if someone who's done this replies or someone whose juggled courses of similar comparison does as well. Gratzi.

Well, at my school, the history course was less work, the APUSH class was tons and tons of work. I took APWH last year, and I'll be doing APUSH and AP Euro this coming year. I think it's easier to do APWH before APUSH, though it is probably do-able, both of them concurrently. I wouldn't recommend it though. However, APWH has stuff that affects US history, like how the colonies were formed because of the Protestant reformation or the World Wars and such.

For me, I'm taking AP Euro this year because I heard it's easier to take after AP World History, since part of the material from WH is in Euro.

So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend it all, but then again, there's some overlap, so it might not be too bad.

Yeah, I know APWH and APUSH classes are relative from school to school...I just wanted to know generally speaking if it was good to take hard history courses concurrently, because of the 'cohesiveness' the history instruction would be and aid in being successful in both classes.

AP Euro at my school is a much easier course than APWH and APUSH, too.

I think I'm leaning more towards taking APUSH this year and APWH senior year. I don't want to risk hurting my grades because of the deluge of reading and annotating I'd have to do for both courses. Thanks for your input!

I've taken all 3 history APs while our school only offered APUSH. I can tell you from the point of view of exams that APWH has the easiest exam out of the three history APs.

I did AP Euro and APUSH concurrently this year, and I found that it was actually pretty beneficial to do 2 history APs at the same time. I was able to supplement my study of APUSH with AP Euro because throughout US history there's a lot of Euro influence. If you do APWH and APUSH at the same time I personally think it will be interesting as well, since APWH gives you a nice break from APUSH (APWH focuses on the "big picture"; APUSH on the "small details).
