My teacher actually grades AP Exams -- however he is not on the committee that decides the what appears on the AP Exam. He believes confidently (through recurring patterns) that the DBQ time period will be in the Post Civil War Era (specifically Reconstruction through the Reagan Administration) -- but don't bank on this!

my teacher predicts populism

my teacher is hoping it is the Gilded Age since we spent 6 weeks on it.

indian policy

industrialism?

yeah i definitely think its going to be Civil War - to the present themed...my teacher is also one of the AP US Readers/Graders

My teacher predicted the rebirth of conservatism.

(I hope not!!! I also don't want Vietnam- I was sick when we took notes on it in class and had so many other projects due that I never learned it very well)

Gilded Age --> Progressivism would be good.

Doesn't College Board say that the essays and DBQ won't deal exculsivley with anything since the 1970s?

My teacher thinks Jamestown because its the 400th anniversary, and CB likes anniversaries.

Along with that, ther'll probably be an essay on civil rights because its the 50th anniversary of Eisenhower's first civil rights laws.

Wat is there to know about Jamestown can somebody tell?

Alot.

The birth of our nation.
The birth of representative government.
The birth of our economic system.
The birth of our Native American policy.
The birth of class conflict.
The birth of slavery.

^^^ Can you expand??

what in the world is the "Gilded Age"??? help!!!!!

Well, the first successful settlement was Jamestown. It almost failed but only survived becase so many people kept coming over.

The House of Burgesses was the first representative governemnt in America.

The Economy grew up around the exportation of tobacco, and our economy pretty much ever since has been based on farming and trade.

We first encountered Native Americans in Jamestown, the Powhatan, and once we realized that we couldn't live with them and we wanted their land, we fought them and pushed them west.

Bacon's rebellion was the one of the first revolts to government, and it was rooted in the fact that the HoB ignored the poorer farmers who had to live on the fronteir and face the dangers of Indian attack.

Jamestown was built around a system of indentured servitude (headright) because people wanted to start over, come to the new world, work the land, and recieve their freedom. Before 1650, indentured servants were the main source of labor because life expectancy was so low that they didnt want to invest in life long slaves. However, in 1619, Jamestown recieved it's first slaves and their necessity and population grew rapidly post 1650 and made the south dependent on slavery, which eventually set up the civil war and sectionalism within our nation.

I don't think it'd be about earlier (or harder) stuff to know for the matter, the reason being that last year they had like the hardest DBQ to date which the writers got a lot of criticism for, so they may make it a little easier this time around, and I'm guessing they'd change the time frames as well.

But it's just speculation.

The big deal with Jamestown though is that it's the 400th anniversary.

Apparently their essay in 1976 had something to do with the constitution to honor the bicentenial.

It could be totally different. But I think they really might do Jamestown.

The writers also defended thier essay from all that criticism and said they were compleatley justified in it. I doubt they would make it any easier in reaction to complaints.

I really hope that it's Jamestown. One of the practice DBQs had to do with the differences between the Chesapeake and NE colonies... so I'm a master =P

my teacher guessed immigration. hmm.

The guesses are waaayyy off.

This was a good DBQ. I'm waiting for the 48 hour period so i can discuss it. (Should be around 12'o clock sunday)
