AP US History/SAT II US History

For those who have taken both, does the AP course cover basically the same material as the subject test? If not, would it be advised to purchase a help book separate from AP exam prep books?

I haven’t taken either test yet, but my APUSH teachers says that the SAT II tests the same material, and that the SAT test is just a little more straightforward. So if you study for the AP, you should be fine for the SAT II, just see if you can take a practice test just to familiarize yourself with the format.

smwhtslightlydzed is pretty accurate. I used AMSCO to study for APUSH, and took SAT II soon thereafter (reviewed a bit). The SAT II is really easy and I don’t think you need any book other than AMSCO.

The APUSH Exam is being reformatted this yr, so I can’t exactly state if they’re similar

But I took APUSH last yr along with SAT ii US History, I’d say the format/concentration is a little bit difference. APUSH is more broad in a sense, while sat ii is a little more specific. SAT II concentrates on certain organizations (similarities), quotes, etc. sometimes not involved in the APUSH subset. I’d say to prepare for the SAT II, you should go through the old forums of SAT ii US History exams and study the questions. I noticed that the SAT ii exam recycles A LOT of questions, or puts in very similar questions. It helped me a lot. I used REA SAT ii, and it helped me a lot. A good portion of the REA Practice exam questions came up on my exam o:

Good luck!

^no. its being reformatted for 2012.

^ ah, then nvm :stuck_out_tongue: then my points are valid up to this yr hehe
