I am taking AP USH right now. We are using the book called "A People and A Nation" fourth edition. My teacher makes us outlines 5-7 pages daily. Unfortunately I don't understand what the textbook is saying, because of all the details and lack of graphs and charts to visualize the information. I am not a english/history person... as you can see I am more of a math person. I am struggling in the class, because my teacher doesn't write good notes on the board and I have no idea what the lecture is about. He gives really hard in class assignments that I don't understand, or can't comprehend. I don't want to fail the class, nor do I want to drop it.

That was my problem. Here is my question - What books would you recommend that would help me get through AP USH that is easy to read and understand?

If you are looking for cheaper textbooks, you could try purchasing from either eBay, Half, or Amazon.com.

Also, you wouldn't really need to buy the NEWEST edition, as long as it's not like more than 10 years old, since you are not using it as a primary textbook, just to clarify. Older editions tend to be much cheaper.

5-7 pages seems kind of easy. Somewhat. In my A.P. World History Class we have to outline like 20-35 pages for homework. We have two days since we go by block scheduling, but I kind of struggle.

We have a 2 year AP USH course. I recently scored a 350 on a practice SAT CR portion. As you can see, my comprehension isn't that good. That is why I am having trouble understanding the textbook.
