AP USH vs. AP World H

AP USH vs. AP World H

do American colleges weight USH or World History more in college admissions?

I heard that taking AP World History is easiler (both GPA and the may test).

Then does that mean I will have an advantage taking World History in the college admissions?

Well, out here in California, UCs and CSUs require you to complete a course in US history, government, or ideals that can be easily satisfied through a passing grade on the AP US History exam. Check and see if you have the same requirement at the colleges you plan to apply to.

I do not believe that colleges will care if you take one over the other as long as you do well in them, nonetheless. They’ll both probably fall under a general category of history or social science or something like that in your application. So, I would suggest taking the course that you feel you’ll perform better in and learn the most from, assuming you have no issues with requirements (most schools make you take at least two years of history, AP or otherwise, one being world history and the other being US).

One thing I should note about World History is that it usually has a very low mean score, often among the lowest of all exams and lower than US.

USH is regarded as harder than World, simply because of how indepth a teacher can go with certain topics. World obviously has a much larger scope, and thus less in depth.

From personal experience (I’ve taken both with 5’s on each) World is “easier” in that it mainly requires a big picture understanding of historical themes with less focus on individual details. US is very different in that you have to both memorize a ton of specifics and be able to critically analyze just about everything you learn and understand that there are several historical aspects that are not what they might immediately seem.
