AP UShistory

I took 9th grade History and I got a B+, but my teacher never taught us anything so he just made us read the book, but I usually never read the book. But when I read it once I knew everything about that chapter, but the problem was, its hard to find out what will actually be on the test. If we got study guides I would have been fine. But for AP USH do you actually have to read all of it? Or do you just try to find the important parts?

Yes, you have to read all of it. You don’t just go over the broad parts, you go over the minor details too. It’ll help for the essay portion of the exam. So you’ll have to memorize the acts/laws, depressions/panics, book titles, etc.
If they asked you what led to the Revolution, you don’t just say the main reason was because the colonists disliked how England was becoming too controlling. No, you provide specific reasons such as the outrageous stamp act, townshend act, salutary neglect, etc.

apush is mostly factual based but you need to know, “the big picture” when it comes to the essays.

I would recommend reading the entire book but if that is difficult then you could use stuff like quizzes, outlines, simulations and other such material to help you out. Check out [AP US History | AP Exam Review Course](http://www.apexamreview.com) they have alot of good resources for APUSH.

Read the book and purchase the AMSCO review book right away so you can review as you go along. If you are using the American Pageant, AMSCO will definitely help you figure out what’s truly important and what’s just random crap that you will most likely not need on the exam.
