I just finished my junior year in high school, and I took AP Art History and AP Language and Comp (tests too). I've also taken U.S. History and Macro-Economics at my local cc so I could get credit without taking an AP class. Do you know if college courses and AP courses carry the same weight on applications, or is one better than the other?

The answer will vary from college to college. You could check the websites for colleges on your list, or call the Admissions Offices to find out. FWIW: Now is one of the best times to call Admissions as they are between cycles and can talk on the phone.
