I took the US History AP and SAT Subject test.
I got a 750 on the SAT, but a 3 on the AP!!! ***!!!!!!!!
I made so many stupid mistakes on the AP.... wrote about FDR instead of TR. -________________- so sad. I was also sick that day.
Should I write what happened on my college app?
How will colleges see this? Will they think I had a grade inflation, seeing how I got a A in the class?
PLEASE HELP!!
I will love you forever and ever and ever.
Thanks. :] hehe

no, they wont consider it grade inflation. ur AP doesnt exactly match ur SAT2, but im sure they know that nobody is perfect. ull be fine and look forward now

Retake the APUSH exam next year :p

I think with an A, 750, and 3, they'll see that you know the material well, but you're writing skills were not at the high level that day (due to illness perhaps).

Those things happen - some students do well on SAT II but not so good on AP, and others vice versa. One of my friends got 5 on APUSH but low 600's on SAT II USH. And colleges realize that some students are just not made for standardized tests, so a 3 on the APUSH won't necessarily be considered a grade inflation. If u want to explain it in ur app, just mentioning ur illness in a sentence or two would be sufficient.

You can always 'forget' to send in your AP US score..
I didn't send in my 3 last year.. especially since it didn't fit on my application.

But sending the 3 shouldn't hurt you either.. especially with a 750 on the SATII!

AP scores are self-reported. You don't send the official score until you've decided that you're going to that school, and after your senior year AP scores are available. You don't send them with your app.

If you don't want to report an AP score on your app, don't report it. It won't matter to your accepted school if it shows up on the score report.

There's no reason to explain anything about the AP score.

I would not even bring it up.

can we pick and choose which scores to send to colleges? for example. if i did well on all my exams except one, then can i just not send that one but send the others?

You can request for a fee that a score be withheld. But since you're sending them only to the college that's already accepted you, and that you've already accepted, there's no issue if there's a bad test score. The worst that happens is you don't get AP credit for that score.

Again, you do not send the official score report with your applications.

AP grades are self-reported on college applications. This is something that's different from SAT/ACT scores.

You do not have to send them your official AP score report at all. I applied to a ton of colleges this year and none of them required one.

Don't withhold the score, it's pretty pointless as you only have to send your score report to the college that you are matriculating yet, and by that point, they wouldn't care.

umm, how do they verify your scores if they;re self-reported?

Yes, they will probably verify if you give them. But, if you give them just 2/3 AP classes, they won't check your other grade. (However, they may think that you decided not to take the test which is bad)

Where are you applying? For most places, a 3 is considered good. For many places, you can get placed out of a class with a 3.

That happened to me. I got a 700 SAT2 score, but a 3 on APUSH

Generally they don't verify. But there are two reasons for that.

1) There's no "safe" way to lie. If you lie to make your scores good enough to matter for your admission, and you subsequently send your official scores, they'll see that you lied and revoke. If you lie but make your scores lower, they won't help you get in.

2) AP scores are not considered strongly for admissions purposes. They are considered in the same way as EC's, which are generally not verified.

They may do random verification by simply asking you to submit your score reports.

dsfdsfsdf

that's weird...I got a 730 on SAT II but a 5 on AP
