ap vs. sat

if i get a 5 on the apush ap exam should i take the sat2 in us history or will it be equivalent in college admissions

You should still take the SAT II US History if schools require SAT IIs.

None is right. For most schools, SAT IIs are a factor in admissions (that is, for the schools where they are required). APs, on the other hand, are self-reported, and while it looks good to have 5s there, they aren't an official factor, but matter really only after you have been accepted, and want to place into higher classes at college.

SAT II is less important than most other admission factors (this does depend on the school. SAT II scores will not get you auto-rejected, or auto-in, they are supplementary info, since schools want to see the relation between your school grades and SAT II scores. (For ex. you get a A+ on Math at school and get 500 on the Math SAT II, that will look weird, or vice versa you suck at Social Studies but get a 750 on the History exam, etc)

The difference between the two is that SAT IIs are required for some schools while AP isn't. So no, a 5 in US History will not get you exempt from taking the subject tests, and additionally, the subject test requirements usually are not stated explicitly, although some schools do require certain subjects
