AP World History Rescore

So when I checked my AP world history score yesterday, I was super appalled by a score of a “3” on my exam. Yes I know a 3 is an okay score and is passing, but I was really confident walking out of the exam that I would get a 5, or a 4 at the least. I glided through the multiple choice and thought my dbq was really good. Our class was extremely tough, and I managed to get an A throughout the year. I did not receive a score lower than an 80% on any multiple choice exams, and always scored a 7 or above on my essays. I easily made a 5 on my practice exams, so I hope you can see how I am surprised. I will rescore my exam, but know collegeboard rarely makes mistakes :frowning: and they only rescore the mc. Any advice for me, as I am unable to accept my score?

Hey, I’m in the same boat as you. I walked in feeling confident and walked out feeling kinda confident. I did pretty well in the class and did okay on the practice exams. And I just saw that I got a 3. If you think rescoring might help you go for it. But make sure that you wanna spend the money it takes to do it. I would rescore mine but I have no money so I’m pretty much going to have to deal with it. Best of luck to you!

Something to note: the CollegeBoard will also make sure that the combination of your MC score and essay score is correct. I got a 4, which is fine, but I really, really thought I got a 5 especially since I studied for about 2 months for the exam. In any case, the rescore isn’t going to hurt you, and will give you some closure.

received my scores from the World History AP test today and was completely blindsided with my score of a 3. I have averaged a 96-97 in this class the entire year which ranks in the top 1% of students who took the class (at a very high caliber school). Additionally, I have taken 2 practice exams and scored 5s on both which I believe was graded accurately as for my teacher has been a AP reader in previous years. Also, I felt very confident coming out of my AP exam thinking I scored much higher than the score I received today. I thought the MC was easy and that I definitely got 80% correct and thought my FRQs answered the prompts correctly (4,6,7 min.). What should I do? I find it promising that we all are enduring the same issue with the same test.

@HeyDinero I would just request a rescore, and assume it would not change. I would say there is 99% chance that your score is indeed the original score you received, but it will give you the reassurance that you did your best to make sure everything was right.

@muhkenzieb I agree. If I did in fact score 80% on the MC then I would receive a 3 (inversely, if I scored a 4,6,7 on FRQs then I would also receive a 3) which suggests in my opinion a missing portion of my exam or failure to combine both scores for my final score. A student that I help/tutor received a 4 on this exam so I find this entire situation fishy. Hopefully a rescore and a FRQ request will do the trick and solve this problem.

@HeyDinero Go for it.

Also, do you guys know if we were to submit for a rescore and get a change in score, do our teachers/schools get alerted?
