I have taken AP U.S. and am taking AP European history. Would it be difficult to self-study world history? Could anyone suggest the best prep books, etc.?

Any help much appreciated.

I think World History is pretty easy to self-study. But remember though that this is world history. You do like from Rome up until like WW1. So there is a lot of material to cover. If you are good in the essays then everything else should be pretty easy. I would do practice tests quite often.

thanks for the suggestion.

I am actually taking a world history course (20th century and non AP, because it is required for my high school and they don't have AP)...I thought about self-studying because nearly everything we do is europe-centered and my european history class is very comprehensive...

I asked my euro teacher and she said that the world history test was structured differently from apush and ap euro -- more thematic. I guess they can't go into as much detail since there is SO much to cover.

Should I try to find a textbook, or will a test-prep book do fine?

Which are the best workbooks for the World Hist Sat ii? I took AP Euro, and got a 4 on the exam but I dont have a really great background in like the Myans, Incas, Pueblos. Roman Empire etc. How long do you think you need to study for to get a good score?

I think out of all 3 AP histories World History is hardest because you have to learn like thousands of years of information. The first quarter is almost over and my class is only on the Middle Ages. We had to read chapters that were very comprehensive on the topics. I would suggest buying a cheap textbook because then you can study the information. On the essays they will get very detailed. I would defintely study hard for this one.

Same here, sciencenerd. The first quarter of the year has just ended for us and we are on The Post-Classical Period, with Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. I just have to say, that APWH is very comprehensive. Even though you do not have to remember the dates, you still have to remember what decade it was in (THAT'S STILL HARD, BECAUSE WE STARTED AROUND 2.5 BILLION B.C.E., and now we are on like 1400 C.E.)
