I’m currently taking APWH and I was wondering if anyone can give advice on how to study for the class. I have an 87 currently and I got a 85 on my first test. In my school, they add ten points to your final grade for AP classes, but I want to end up with a natural A. I have tried to take notes while reading, but I have ended up falling behind. My teacher isn’t that great and her powerpoint are kind of disorganized. Are there any ways of studying to do good on the tests? Also, how should I prepare for the exam? I want to try to get a 5 or a 4. Should I get a Barrons, Princeton Review, or 5 steps to a 5? I know they have a new format for the 2017 exam. I’m kind of weak at writing so how should I practice my SAQ’s, DBQ’s and LEQ’s? It would be really great if I could get some advice from former APWH students!
@history1000, I’m on Europe in the middle ages (Capetians, Otto of Saxony, Norman England, crusades, etc.)
@Mathophile26 Tysm!
How is everybody preparing for the exam? I began reading the Barron’s prep book, but I HATE reading it. I’d quit reading it if it didn’t have as much detail as it does.
What time period are you guys on right now?
We just finished up period 3, we’ll resume with 4 once we get back to school from Christmas break.
My class is still on 3 and only half of all the students in the 4 ap classes have the textbook since our school isn’t going to order any more. I thankfully have one but we’re not required to read it so I’m pretty sure most people have no clue what’s going on and we may be a little behind but idrk as of now
I am a freshman at my high school currently in the 2016-2017 school year in World History 1 Honors. I plan on taking AP World History next year for the 2017-2018 school year. However, I heard AP World is much harder than World HN and that is sort of scaring me. Is it really much harder as people say?
Have a good day and merry Christmas!
@blackandpink13 The link http://www.teacheroz.com/apexamreview.html doesn’t work? Any other resources to star preparing for the AP World Exam – Does anyone have Previous Years College board exam questions?
Sorry, the link works now
Hello everyone!! I’m thinking about taking APWH next year… but as a freshman, I’m not taking any APs. (I wish I was, I hadn’t known anything about them prior to actually starting high school.) So to make up for it, I’m trying to take two APs this year, AP Psych and AP World. I’m taking AP Psych without a doubt, but should I ease into APs? I heard APWH is one of the hardest, most rigorous courses you can take, but I’d feel bad for only having 1 AP on my transcript junior year. Any advice? Exactly how tough is this course?
Anybody know how to improve in historical writing? I know the information, I just have trouble finding a way to express it in order to support my argument.
Did any of ya’ll have "preAP World History at your school?
Our school has "preAP World History as a freshman choice and APHG. D is in 8th grade and we need to pick courses. don’t know which one to pick, looking for a lighter load.
@BingeWatcher My school didn’t have a pre-AP world history class for us to take, so I don’t know how rigorous that is compared to APHG. I took APHG last year as a freshman and let me tell you, it was super rewarding and interesting. It prepared me for AP World too because you learn a lot about religion, cultures, and geography in the class. I’m not sure which class would provide a lighter courseload for your daughter, but that’s just my two cents.
Thank you @Shanban1607 thank you. She will take APHG for sure and she agreed!
Does anyone know where I can find a fairly accurate (matches the actual test) AP World practice test? Would you say Barron’s is accurate?
I’m using Princeton’s Review for the practice tests.
I’m more worried about the FRQs than the MC. For the MC, you can make an educated guess
based on stimulus. But for FRQs, for all of them you need “specific historical evidence”. WTF??
How am I supposed to remember a specific Aztec ruler or goods that were traded in ancient
civilizations?
TBH, history is not rigorous. It’s quite a bit of reading, but it isn’t conceptually difficult.
I think if you have the time and don’t mind reading too much, then you should definitely
go for it.
At least at my school, it gets a reputation more because of the teachers rather than the
course itself. I would definitely take it.
I dont know if this was already used but I think the DBQ will be on opium wars
