AP World History Vs. AP Art History ???

I’ll be giving AP PSYCH and AP MICRO next year in May (my country doesn’t offer AP courses so I’ll be self-studying them) and I want to give another AP exam but I’m confused between AP World and AP Art History, I’d like to give either one of them but not both because that’ll be a lot of workload as I have to study for my school classes, I’ll be giving the SAT in December and 2 SAT Subject Tests (most probably Biology E/M and World History) next year, all of which I’ll be studying for on my own. Please help me decide b/w the two APs!!!

A little background concerning my situation: I study History, Math, Economics, Psychology and English in school so it’ll make sense for me to do AP World as the syllabus overlaps with my school syllabus and I’ll most probably be giving the SAT subject test in World History too but I’m interested in Art History and I feel like it’ll be boring to study the same WH syllabus three times. Ideally, I would like to do both but I don’t want to overwork myself and burden myself with way too many subjects because I’ll get really stressed because I’m not that good at time management lmao.
I haven’t been able to find a prep book for Art History but I’ve found more resources and prep books for World History. Help!!!

  • I'm in 11th grade btw lol forgot to mention that!!!

Probably a pointless endeavor. Your time could be better spent elsewhere, There is no value added is self studying. But if you are determined to do so, Art History is easier from the exam perspective if you have an interest in art

Strickland’s The Annotated Mona Lisa.If you can get your hands on a decent text like Gardner’s Art Through the Ages.

Thank you for your input! I searched for the books you mentioned (+Barron’s) on Amazon and they’re all $270+ (since they’ve been exported from the U.S) and I don’t think I’ll be able to pay so much for a prep book. I was planning on studying from Khan Academy if I decide to do AP Art History but I don’t think its enough to study just from there.

Just curious why are you you self studying? If your country doesn’t have ap classes no one expects you to take them. In the United States self studying is not something admission departments care about for college admissions. In many cases they would rather see you use that time for something extra like a club, sport, job, hobby etc. Yes for some schools after you get accepted they may use your AP class/score to for credit or to start at a higher level but that is not a given. I guess I’m not really understanding why the need to self study so much.

I agree with @momtogirls2 …there is no need to self study APs for admissions…only if you want to get credit perhaps.

And if you are taking SAT II tests, it is quite likely that the schools that you are targeting will take no or limited AP credits.
