Hey you guys out there... I wanted to know did anyone out there have any good study techniques and note taking techniwues while reading a chapter? I wanted also wanted to know were there any good study websites that you know of.... Thanks. -Tavares

I took it sophomore year, and my teacher gave us notes in the Cornell note-taking system. I’m actually his assistant teacher this semester.

As for advice… Read your textbook. That’s important. Get some practice tests if you want (I used Princeton Review… they’re somewhat easier than the AP exam - though I got a 5 on the real thing, on those practice tests, I got 69/70, 55/70, 50/70, 50/70, so they aren’t terribly consistent, either). It is very important to focus on accurately writing the essays, using the past actual released essay topics. I suggest mastering the DBQ first, since it’s the easiest (it has all the sources there; also, get your hand on the 1-9 rubric). Then do COTs and CCs. Start off untimed, open-book, to master the form. Then move to timed, then to closed-book, so the last couple for each is written in test conditions.

Taking notes is good unless the reading becomes less important than jotting notes, and they are extremely time consuming considering the massive amount of information presented. I used Mr. Burnett’s (google this) outlines as well as the Stearns AP textbook notes (my textbook was from stearns) and took the quizzes on it afterwards. That helped me prepare for the test, as well as jogging my memory about the important things. The details will have to be sort of skimmed over again, because there’s no way you can really remember that many details. Just read the textbook very thoroughly and make sure you’re understanding what you’re reading! Sorry if that wasn’t helpful, I did that and got an A and a 5, although it isn’t a hard test.

You can search on Delicious.com for bookmarks on AP World (What I did, and they helped me review, though I liked my own notes better.)

Read every chapter, buy [AP Achiever (Advanced Placement* Exam Preparation Guide) for AP World History (College Test Prep) : McGraw-Hill Professional Online Book Store](http://www.mhprofessional.com/product.php?cat=115&isbn=0073292117)

Well, it helps if you had the McGraw Hill textbook, but this prep guide was amazing compared to Barron’s.
