Are AP courses required to gain admission in columbia?

AP courses are not required, though they are recommended and an excellent thing to have.
Columbia (and all colleges for that matter) want candidates with a “rigorous” schedule. This means that they took challenging courses relative to the classes offered at their school. So, if your school doesn’t offer any AP’s, you will of course not be looked down upon for not having taken any. However, if your school offers 15 AP courses and you haven’t ever taken any, that’s a different story.
Good luck with your applications!

The deal with APs is it’s all self-reported. You can send them your score report if you want but they are likely to lose it - that’s what they do with most of them. If you end up attending Columbia and you want AP credit, save your senior year (or whatever the last year you take the tests is) paper score report and bring that with you to your advisor as a freshman or sophomore.

Just put your scores down on the common app; you’ll be fine. Otherwise, I echo what Deblerg said.
