I am looking for an apartment for 3-4 people this coming Spring semester (mid-January until the end of May). Around 1,000 dollars per month per person would be ideal. Distance from campus doesn't matter, within reason of course, (Claremont, Rockridge, etc are fine).

Are apartments like this possible to find? If so, can anyone offer any tips on the market in Berkeley? I often hear you have to be persistent, if not aggressive, with the landlords to get a place.

EK-your price range for 3+bedrooms @ $1000pp in those neighborhoods is doable. Check out CraigsList.com or contracostatimes.com-Montclarion section. Renting to students can be tough in those neighborhoods. Do you or your roommates have family nearby for co-signing or reference? Have you or any of your room-mates rented before? would you be willing to rent for more than one year? Jump on an ad-rental market is tight. Ideas of ways to get the Landlord on your side. There are different rental restrictions in Berkeley vs Oakland-as an FYI. G'Luck!
