Apartment for Freshman?

Does anybody know of any freshmen who live in an off-campus apartment? Would it be very difficult to meet other students in this situation? (I will already be paying for a two bedroom apartment and my freshman could just live there as opposed to paying for a dorm and food plan.)

Would the apartment be really close by, or farther away? I would think that the closer, the better, for meeting people on campus, hanging out with them, and then going home.

It would be close, in Webster Hall. But there are not a lot of Pitt freshmen there, so maybe a dorm would be better?

I always think a dorm is better for freshmen. It depends on the kid, of course. But for most that age, living in a dorm and having a meal plan is like life with training wheels. They don't have to deal yet with landlords and telephone installers and having the gas meter read. In my opinion, there's enough time for that!

True, and then later you can enjoy your full kitchen and private bathroom while fondly looking back on the earlier years! Haha! I guess I will just shell out money for the dorm when the time comes, if that is what my student wants to do. Probably it's the best thing for meeting people.
